| Follicular Unit Extraction technique (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) are the latest methods of hair transplantation. In Follicular Unit Extraction technique, the hair follicles are extracted individually and implanted on the bald area. But Follicular Unit Transplantation remains the Gold standard method. This revolutionary technique of hair restoration has many advantages including completely natural results, very little bleeding, no visible scar and minimal recovery time for patients. A thin strip of skin bearing hair from the back of the scalp is taken out and each hair follicle is separated from the strip under microscope. Then these individual hair follicular units (bearing 2 to 3 hairs) are implanted on the bald area. The whole procedure is done under local anaesthesia and it lasts for 8 to 10 hours depending upon the number of hair follicles transplanted. 3000 to 3500 hair follicles can be transplanted in one sitting. During procedure, the patient takes the lunch normally and listens soothing music or watches television. No admission is required and the patient shampoos the scalp on third day.
